Reviewed: Tony Sacco’s Coal Oven Pizza

Nothing like chain restaurants, such as Papa John’s and Domino’s, Tony Sacco’s Coal Oven Pizza has a unique coal-fired taste and a dining experience with a flavor all its own.

Reviewed: Thumbs upJoseph Serra of Novi, Michigan, may be typical of Tony Sacco’s target demographic. He and his family have developed an affinity for Tony Sacco’s because it has something for every member of the family.

“We don’t eat out a ton,” he said. “When we do go out, we’re usually with the kids. If we’re not doing the quickie pizza type of deal and we want to go get a decent pizza; we get a coal oven-cooked pizza at Tony Sacco’s.”

Tony Sacco’s Pizza serves a higher quality pizza than most other pizza joints. Pizzas are made fresh, and the establishment has a unique atmosphere unlike the typical commercial feel you might find at similar pizza chains.

“What makes it excellent? They make it how I like it,” Serra said. “Not too heavy on the sauce; they use fresh ingredients; the dough is not too doughy; it’s not the commercial dough the big chain places use.”

The restaurant has an open floor plan complete with a full bar of beer, wine and cocktails. The atmosphere is family-friendly; good for dinner out with friends; but might not be the best choice for a more intimate evening because of the open floor plan.

Tony Sacco’s does not offer a pizza delivery service, which may disappoint some people. If a customer really wants delivery, a third party delivery service can pick up and drop off the pizza. This can put the cost well above what you would pay if you simply got a table in the restaurant; and it will certainly cost more than your typical pizza delivery.

Tony Sacco’s is also more expensive per pizza than other pizza chains. Their pizzas range in price from $10 to $20 depending on the type of pizza and desired toppings; however, this is to be expected when ordering a freshly-made restaurant pizza.

Tony Sacco’s has several locations nationwide. The Michigan Tony Sacco’s restaurant is located at the Novi Town Center Mall, 2 blocks east of Novi Road on Grand River Ave, serving pizza from 11 am to 10 pm, 11 pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
